How it works

Four steps to real compliance.

Real code intelligence is not magic. It is a four-step process backed by a patent pending methodology. Here is exactly what happens between scan and GO Badge.

The Abliven method

Scan. Score. Fix. Earn the badge.

Each step is engineered to deliver something overlay tools cannot: real code analysis, court-relevant scoring, applied fixes, and publicly verifiable proof.

01

Scan

We analyze your actual code.

The Abliven Intelligence Engine crawls your site and parses every component against WCAG 2.2 AA, ADA, Section 508, EAA, AODA, and CA Unruh Act. Real code analysis. No JavaScript injection. No widgets running on your visitors.

02

Score

Every violation weighted by lawsuit risk.

Our patent pending Litigation Risk methodology scores each violation based on how often plaintiffs use it in actual ADA lawsuits. You see exactly what matters most to courts, not a generic "98 percent accessible" claim that means nothing.

03

Fix

Code-level fixes, not theater.

Shield subscribers receive a code-level remediation report for their developer. Shield+ subscribers get the Abliven team applying the fixes directly. Either way, the underlying HTML is repaired. The violation goes away.

04

Earn

The GO Badge proves it.

When your site crosses the compliance threshold, the GO Badge appears on your site and links to a public verification page. Anyone can check your live compliance status. It cannot be purchased. It cannot be faked.

Patent pending

Why our scoring is different.

Every accessibility tool counts violations. Abliven measures legal exposure. The difference matters when a demand letter arrives.

Litigation weighting

Each violation type is weighted by how often plaintiffs actually use it in court. A missing alt text on a navigation icon is not the same risk as a missing form label, and our score reflects that. Other tools treat every violation equally. Courts do not.

Real code analysis

We parse your HTML, ARIA, and JavaScript directly. We do not run an overlay widget that toggles accessibility attributes at runtime, which is exactly what courts have repeatedly ruled is insufficient. The fix is in the source code, not in a mask.

Continuous monitoring

Sites change. Every update can introduce new violations. Shield rescans monthly. Shield+ rescans weekly. Both tiers alert you when a new violation is detected, so compliance becomes a state you maintain, not a checkbox you tick once.

Two ways to apply the fixes.

The scan, score, and GO Badge are the same on both tiers. The difference is who turns the report into clean code.

DIY remediation

Shield

You receive a code-level remediation report with exact fixes for your developer. If you have an in-house developer or a trusted agency, this is the lower-cost path to compliance. The report is deployment-ready: copy, paste, deploy, rescan.

Process questions.

How long does the initial scan take?
The initial Abliven scan takes 15 to 30 minutes for most SMB websites. Complex sites with hundreds of pages take longer. You receive your full Litigation Risk Score and remediation report within 24 hours of signup, with onboarding scheduled within 48 hours.
What kind of fixes does the Abliven team make on Shield+?
Our team handles the technical accessibility violations: missing alt text, improper heading structure, color contrast failures, form labeling, ARIA attributes, keyboard navigation, focus indicators, and structural landmarks. We work directly in your site's code or provide your developer with deployment-ready patches, depending on your platform.
Can I use my own developer with Shield+?
Yes. Many Shield+ subscribers use their existing developer for major site changes while reserving their setup hours and RemPacks for compliance-specific work. Your dedicated success contact coordinates the handoff to keep everything consistent.
How does the Litigation Risk Score work?
The composite score combines three factors: automated WCAG detection (40 percent), litigation risk weighting based on lawsuit frequency (45 percent), and completeness signals like accessibility statements (15 percent). The methodology is patent pending. A score of 70 or above earns the GO Badge.
What happens when I update my site?
Site changes can introduce new violations. Shield runs automatic monthly rescans. Shield+ runs weekly rescans plus real-time alerts when violations are detected. You can also trigger an on-demand rescan from your account dashboard after a major release.
